Absolute Beginners Sewing Workshop

Wednesdays:  6.30pm - 9.30pm

Cost: £25

If you are a total beginner or haven' done any sewing for a while, this workshop is aimed to help you learn basic sewing skills, or refresh your skills in sewing.  We will supply the machines, the fabric, the all the equipment and supplies.  Once you've settled in, we'll start at the beginning with winding a bobbin, threading up and making your first stitches.  We'll also look  at common mistakes and how to fix them as well as how to change a needle.  You will also be making an item to take home with you:

The workshop will include:

• Setting up the sewing machine and using its functions

• How to wind the bobbin

• Threading the sewing machine

• Learning the correct threads to use in the machine

• Learning how to use the different stitches on the machine

• Sewing two pieces of fabric together using the straight stitch

• Neatening a raw edge of a seam

• Adjusting the tension

•  As well as making a item
